Help is right here

February 14, 2012
There may be moments in your life when you need help and you are not sure where to find it.

Wives always joking about how they have to force their husbands to pull over and ask for directions.
They are trying to get their husbands to open their minds to a new perspective. Although it may not always work.

I have no idea where you are on your life journey right now. I can imagine if you are visiting this
website, you are seeking help for some aspect of your life.

I encourage you to open your mind to finding help even if you can't see it right now.

Help is surrounding you.

It may take a bit of time for it to present itself to you or for you to see as it may have been there all along.

We are all responsible

February 12, 2012
The world is changing and we can move with the change along with it.  The key thing we need to do is take responsibility.  No more blaming, judging, condemning.

If you are concerned about the gangs in your neighborhood, the governments use of your money, your financial situation, the homeless, the sick, the dying or world hunger...stop thinking and start doing.

The movie needs to start filming, ACTION!

The next time you catch yourself blaming someone or judging someone’s decision or shaki...

The real reason for...wanting

February 5, 2012

I picked up the book, "Happier Than God", by Neale Donald Walsch at the library last week. This book is about the secrets of being happy. It is one of those books that can be read in one day if you wanted.  Don't let the "God" word turn you off from reading it.

One immediate take away I got from this book has to do with wanting. There might be one or two things you want to happen in your life such as a new job, more money, losing weight, a good life for your children etc.

What is good?

February 2, 2012
I attended a local Chamber of Commerce luncheon today.  The keynote speaker did a talk on how to have memorable conversations. She did an exercise with the group that was quite powerful.

She asked everyone to get up and meet six people.  We were all asked to introduce ourselves and ask a simple question, "what is good?".

I was very impressed with the energy shift in the room after doing this exercise. Everyone really opened up and were enjoying themselves.

The presenter pointed out that too...

So where are you headed?

February 1, 2012
I read this book that my brother, Bryan, gave me for Christmas one year. The book is called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" by Robert M. Pirsig. It is an interesting book. It has two story lines that are interconnected.

One storyline is about a father and son who are touring across the United States on a motorcycle. The other storyline details a philosophical perspective on the word "quality" and the difficulty with defining it. Quality is referred to in the book as shapeless, for...

The real reason for...the common cold

January 31, 2012
I had a cold last week and it got me thinking.

When we are sick, we tend to change our perspective on what is important. Ultimately, we want to get healthily again.
If our cold is really bad, we will sleep more, eat better and work less.

What if the universe created the common cold to remind us of the importance to get away from all of life's distractions and see what is truly important?

Run Run Everybody Run...5..4..3..2..1...Let's Run!

January 31, 2012

Over the past few weeks, I have been learning how to run at a local running clinic.  Sound funny?  At first we thought so.  After a couple of weeks, we realized that there is more to running than just going out for a run.  Some things that can impact your ability to be able to run on an ongoing basis are your posture, your shoes, your eating habits, walk breaks and stretching.  One day a week we run with the running club and then our homework is to run two more times in the week.  Eac...

The real reason for...ice skating

January 29, 2012
Winter time brings back memories for me of playing in the snow and ice skating. I loved going out in our backyard and skating on the home made ice rink my Dad would make every year.

Now my son is creating memories of his own related to winter and skating. In fact, today was his very first day on ice skates. It got me thinking about the reason for ice skating.

What if the universe invented ice skating to open our minds to a new way of looking at things?

Ice skating shows us that when in a differe...

What if the universe invented band aids to be a reminder that when we feel pain, it can be healed in time.
